Drs. Peter and Jackie Lanigan

Hello!

We are the Lanigans, Drs. Jackie and Peter, and we are excited to take over Dr. David Newman’s practice on July 1, 2022.

 When we met Dr. Newman, his warmth and genuine interest in his patients’ well being was immediately apparent to us, and we both knew we had finally found a dentist with whom we share the same philosophy in patient care.  It had taken us several years to find a practice that fits us so well, in part because we were also looking for the right community in which to raise our five children. Our whole family has quickly fallen in love with the community of Kilmarnock and are very much looking forward to building our life here!

Dr. Jackie Lanigan graduated from dental school in 2008 and has been proudly balancing motherhood and dentistry for the past 14 years. She enjoys the intellectual challenge of dentistry, especially as it relates to overall health. She has completed a sleep medicine mini-residency at UNC, over 50 hours of CE related to endodontic treatment, as well as completed over 100 cases of Invisalign. In addition, she is a board certified diplomat in sleep medicine as indicated by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM). She finds this field to be especially rewarding as it has immediate affects in her patients’ quality of life.

Dr. Peter Lanigan graduated from dental school in 2012. He worked for a few years as an electrical engineer before deciding that dentistry was the career for him! While Peter has diverse dental talents, he is especially educated in surgical implant placement. He has taken over 300 CE credits in implant surgery, as well as several more in Invisalign and endodontic therapy.  He is detail oriented and enjoys working with patients to help them achieve their goals for esthetics and oral health.  

We look forward to meeting you in the office … or perhaps you will spot us first on the soccer field, pool, tennis courts, or at ballet.  We are very excited to work with Dr. Newman’s staff and continue his reputation for excellent patient care.

Dear Patients and Friends,

After more than thirty-eight years practicing dentistry in our beautiful community, I am happy to announce that I have found two terrific dentists to continue providing care for our patients. I am excited to introduce Drs. Jackie and Peter Lanigan, a husband-and-wife dental team, who will soon move to the Northern Neck and provide dental care to our patients for many years to come. Starting the first of July, we will begin transitioning the practice to the Lanigans. I will work with them through the summer months in order to provide for a smooth transition. Debbie and I are ready to explore the next chapter of our lives and are thankful that we have found a way to make that happen.

 Jackie and Peter have excelled in every phase of their academic careers. They were at the top of their respective classes in college and dental school, and I have no doubt they will provide excellent dental care to all of you. In fact, their advanced training in implants, orthodontics, sleep disorders, and endodontics will take the practice to a level of excellence that is second to none.

 I have always believed in providing the best quality care to all my patients and it became evident in my discussions with the Lanigans that they have that same practice philosophy. They also value spending quality time with their family and becoming a part of this community. They recognize that this area gives them the opportunity to achieve all of those things.

 For those of you who already have appointments, I know you will enjoy meeting Jackie and Peter in the months ahead. I will be staying in the area and am truly looking forward to my retirement.
